toyota classic fj40

Model FJ40

Is the model designation for a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series. The FJ40 is a two-door, short wheelbase, four-wheel-drive vehicle, with either a soft or a hardtop. It was available from 1960 until 1984. Most 40 series Land Cruisers were built as two-door vehicles with slightly larger dimensions than a Jeep CJ. While not legal in some countries, most J40 series vehicles could have their roof and doors removed, with a folding windshield that allowed a complete open-air experience. The J40 Series also featured folding jump seats behind the passenger and drivers seats.

FJ43

Model FJ43

The FJ43 is also a model designation for a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series. It was also manufactured from 1960 to 1984. This vehicle was a rare two-door, medium wheelbase, four-wheel-drive vehicle, with either a soft or a hard-top. Soft tops of this FJ series are very popular and extremely appealing. The FJ43 Series also featured a longer space behind the drivers seat that allowed longer folding jump seats. These folding seats not only made carrying up to 6 passengers in the back possible, but also allowed a large area for maximum cargo space.

FJ45

Model FJ45

The FJ45 is another model designation for a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series. It is a long-wheelbase, four-wheel-drive vehicle, available in two-door hardtop, three-door hardtop, four-door station wagon and two-door pickup models. The four-door station wagon model was the shortest-lived of the J40 series and extremely hard to find. The main use and most successful FJ45 is in the pick-up model that was sold with extreme success around the world. Very popular in oil, mining and industrial operations for its ruggedness and large load capacity.

Type F

The “F” Engine: Used from 1955-1974, the Type F engine made the FJ famous. It was not the most efficient but it was virtually impossible to break. It is commonly know to run 500.000 – 600.000 miles without a problem.

Type 2F

The “2F” Engine: Running from 1975-1988, the 2F improved on the F, increasing engine size to 4.2L. This engine is more efficient and powerful than the F engine, but it still has the same feel that FJ drivers love.

Type 3F

The “3F” Engine: Is a 6 cylinder inline 4.0L gasoline engine that replaced the 2F. It distinguishes itself from the 2F by having a better cooling system, and it has been equipped with more bearings on the crankshaft. The 3F is also known as a de-stroked 2F, slightly improving highway speed.
